Manage Media

  • Each thumbnail image on the page represents a media item (audio, video, or other media file).

    Use the item’s corresponding buttons (to the right of the thumbnail) to Edit, Publish, or Delete the item.

    Use the icons directly under an item’s thumbnail to Download, Embed, access the item’s Permalink, or Share the item*.

    *NOTE: If your media item is not published, or if it is restricted or secured, some of these options may not be available. For example, a secured media item cannot be embedded.

    Download icon Download Icon – Allows you to download your media file to your computer.

    Embed icon Embed Icon – Allows you to copy media embed code and to customize the embedded player, if desired. Adjust dimensions of the player by using the [Size] drop-down menu. Utilize the checkboxes to specify if you want your media to:

    Title: Title of media appears above the embedded player.

    Auto Play: Media plays back immediately when the player loads.

    Captions 'On' By Default: Display closed captions you have added to your media during playback.

    Social Tools: Provides social media icons with the embedded player, allowing viewers to share content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google+, or to compose an email containing the content URL.

    Permalink icon Permalink Icon – Allows you to copy a direct link to your media, or create a custom permalink.

    Share icon Share Icon – Allows you to share your media directly with your social networks. Click the icons to share content on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Google+, or to compose an email containing the content URL.

  • This is the default sub-form within the Manage Content form to upload video(s) or/and audio. Click here to learn how to use Audio/Video to upload a media file.

  • When a video is uploaded to Mediaflo, one thumbnail/preview image is generated by the system. The documentation below will walk you through the process of uploading an image or selecting a frame in your video to use as a thumbnail/preview image.

    Uploading Preview and Thumbnail images

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media for which you would like to change the preview or thumbnail image.
    2. Select [Thumbnails] from the upper-right corner to start editing.
    3. Select the [Upload] tab under the content title.
    4. Click [Browse].
    5. Locate and select an image from your computer.
    6. Select an image for the Preview/Thumbnail using the radio buttons to the right side of the images.
    7. If you have completed editing the media, click [Continue] at the bottom of the page.
    8. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.

    Generating Preview and Thumbnail images

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media you would like to edit.
    2. Select [Thumbnails] from the upper-right corner to start editing.
    3. The media will begin to play. Find a point in the video for a thumbnail and click to pause the video.
    4. With the image you wish to make a thumbnail/preview image displayed, click [Generate].
    5. Select an image for the Preview/Thumbnail using the radio buttons to the side of the images.
    6. If you have completed editing the media, click [Continue] at the bottom of the page.
    7. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.

  • Links to other web pages can be shared with your viewers in the About tab of your media item. This documentation will walk you through the process of adding a link to an external page to your media item.

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media you would like to edit.
    2. Update the information, and then click [Continue].
    3. Select [Links] from the [Options] drop-down menu to start editing.
    4. Enter a name for the link.
    5. Enter or paste a URL into the URL box.

    NOTE: The URL must contain "http://" or "https://" (without the quotes) to be valid.

    1. Enter a description if needed.
    2. Click [Add].
    3. If you have completed the editing on this media, you may click [Continue] at the bottom.
    4. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.

    You can add as many links as you like. Remove links from the list with the [Delete] button.

  • Use the Attachments sub-form to upload files that will be accessible with your published media.

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media you would like to edit.
    2. Update the information, and then click [Continue].
    3. Select [Attachments] from the [Options] drop-down menu to start editing.
    4. Click [Add files] to select a file from your computer or drag and drop the file to the [Drag files here] box.
    5. Click [Start Upload].
    6. If you have completed the editing on this media, you may click [Continue] at the bottom.
    7. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.

    You can add as many attachments as you’d like. Remove attachments from the list with the red Delete button.

  • Use the Annotations tab to annotate specific time points within the media. Annotations allow viewers to skip to the key points within your content.

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media you would like to edit.
    2. Select [Annotations] from the upper-right corner to start editing.
    3. The media will begin to play. Once you start to type an annotation, the media will pause to allow you to finish typing. You can also manually pause the media to enter an annotation.
    4. Press [Enter] on your keyboard to save your annotation and begin media playback again.
    5. Click [Save] to save your text in the annotation list.
    6. Repeat steps 4 through 6.
    7. When you are finished adding annotations, click [Continue].
    8. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.

     

  • Use the Trim tab to trim a media clip by adding a start point and end point for a media in the Media Library.

    1. Click [Edit] next to the media you would like to edit.
    2. Select [Trim] from the upper-right corner to start editing.
    3. Play and pause the media or drag the navigation bar to choose the beginning of your new trimmed media.
    4. Click [Start] to choose the beginning of the clip.
    5. Play and pause the media or drag the navigation bar to choose the end of your trimmed media.
    6. Click [End] to choose the end of the clip.
    7. Enter a new title for the trimmed media.
    8. Use the [Copy Description & Keywords] check-box if you would like to carry over the description information from the original media to the new, trimmed media.
    9. Click [Save Clip].
    10. If your trim was successful, you will see the "New title Created Successfully" message, and you will have the option to create another clip from the original media, edit your new title, or go back to your library, or you can click [Continue] to go to next page.
    11. Click [Publish] if you would like to publish your media, or you may leave the page.
